Shenanigans

Ernest

My mate slept on his side, his ass in my lap and his back pressed to my chest. His heart thumped slowly and steadily, and his soft breaths tickled my arm where I held him tight. With my nose in his hair, I pulled in lungfuls of his scent and let it burn through me in waves. The love I felt for him grew by the second.

It was Tuesday morning, four days since Lawrie had come home with me on New Year’s Eve. Had it truly been a mere four days?

We’d spent Monday doing nothing but making love, and it had been miraculous. I’d have to message my dad and thank him for the advice—the flight had brought Lawrie and me closer together. When he’d touched the dragon, stroking my head…I might have felt at my weakest because Lawrie could break me with one slender finger. At the same time, I could crush mountains and build castles only to make him smile.

I brushed my lips over the soft skin behind his ear and down his neck. He squirmed and rolled onto his stomach, so I kissed his nape and got up. The package waited behind the door. Grinning, I brought it to the bathroom and unwrapped it. The plug was from smooth black silicone and had a round base. I washed it and slipped it into the velvet tote that had come with it. Then I went through my morning routine, emptying my bladder, brushing my teeth, a swift shower, and back stretches. I was just about to put on the coffee maker when Lawrie emerged from the bedroom with pillow creases on his cheek, wearing nothing but a pair of loose sleep shorts. He looked so damned cute I could have melted into a puddle.

“Where did you go?” he grumbled, frowning at me.

“We had a delivery, and now I’m making you coffee.”

“Huh. Okay.” He looked around sleepily, then nodded to himself. “Bathroom first.”

“You’re not a morning person, are you?” I asked.

He threw me a glare over his shoulder and disappeared behind the bathroom door. Chuckling, I pulled out the empty water container from the coffee maker. Should I make breakfast? Or we could go out… I’d ask Lawrie what he wanted. We’d been holed up for the entire day yesterday, so maybe a walk and breakfast at a café somewhere would be nice.
